Andreas Lubitz Murdered His Passengers
By Damien Darko
On March 24th, 2015 Andreas Lubitz deliberately crashed his German Wings Flight 9525 into the Alpine Ridge at a astounding 400 miles per hour. The main stream media has been very slow to analyze and condemn the actions of Lubitz. The 27 year old Lubitz was had shown multiple warning signs leading to the murder of 150 passengers to include the flight captain.
Andreas Lubitz was a disturbed individual that did not start the day he chose to kill his passengers. In fact Lubitz had spent years dealing with suicide and depression that made him chronically unfit to work let alone fly a plane. The fact of the matter is that he had been dealing with psychiatric problems even before he obtained his pilot license. This brings up the rather interesting question of why he was even allowed to pass a flight physical. Can a suicidal person really be given a job as a commercial airline pilot in the modern day? I am not a big fan of prohibiting employment based on seeking mental health, however he flew airplanes.
The lasting problem with this particular case is the study of who should be held accountable for the murder of these passengers? I believe that the media needs to label Lubitz as a mass murderer not unlike BTK or the Green River Killer. He killed 150 people of his own free will as he is a human with a conscience for right and wrong. I do not believe that Lubitz should be held to account alone. When the actual medication that he is taken comes to the public eye I believe that company should be sued.
The reason I believe that is most depression medications actually say on the label that they increase the risk of suicide. This would be unbelievable for a pilot in charge of a airliner. I believe that he wanted to commit suicide mixed with heavy medication equaled him killing the passengers.
I also believe that the airline should be held financially responsible for the 15o passengers on the doomed aircraft. After all it is the airline that is responsible for ensuring their pilots pass flight physicals and are completely prepared to fly. The airline was responsible for the wellbeing of its passengers 100%. Lufthansa knows this explicitly and that is why they had set aside 300 million dollars for this particular crash with their insurers. This is a slam dunk case for any victims family members.
The last thing that is important to bring up is the fact nobody could access the cockpit. Due to the event surrounding 9/11 the cabin access door is almost impossible to access without the person inside wanting them inside. Because of this I believe many other copycat situations can occur. I believe their should be a keypad access system for at least three crew members in the event this occurs in the future. Technology can solve this problem.
In closing Andreas Lubitz is a mass murderer. 150 Souls are lost at his hand. Drugs, testings, negligence are all applicable in this case. Never underestimate the amount of evil that can be committed if given the right opportunity. Now is the time for reform so another tragedy does not happen again.
