ISIS has recently destroyed the 3,000 year old ancient city of the Assyrian city of Nimrud in Northern, Iraq. Not only are the ISIS thugs chasing down and killing christians they are also on a jihad against ancient monuments from days gone past. They are doing all they can to destroy all of the ancient relics and historical sites located within their territory. Nimrud and the ancient writing located throughout the city are some of the oldest forms of writing in the world. Archeologist throughout the west fear that the attacks against ancient sites are going to escalate as ISIS spreads throughout the region. The many great historical sites locate in Iraq and Syria hold information from the past that must be preserved.

The History of Iraq in the breadbasket of civilization is slowly being erased one stone at a time. Previously ISIS had destroyed the ancient tomb of Noah from which all three major religions equally condemned. Noah is a great prophet and leader from each of the three main faiths and it is appalling to see the desecration of such a holy place. ย The ISIS thugs are trying to justify this ugly display by saying the Quran requires they erase previous examples of religion and culture. Of course, the Muslim world does not accept this explanation. The ISIS fighters also destroyed an ancient winged bull monument from the ancient city of Nineveh. This crime against history is spreading through propaganda, brutal force and mass indoctrination of the local populace.

As Truthraider travels around the world we can’t help but think that the preservation of these sites goes past just the religions lines and moves much closer to a culture realization of oneness. It is not just the religious leaders that should take offense to these actions. scholars also need to unite to put an end to this practice. We must keep ISIS so preoccupied that they do not continue with the torture of christians, desecration of holy and historical sites, persecution of homosexuals, slavery of women, and oppression of the local populace. The entire free world is watching.
